DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Duluth resident Mikaela Williams is one of many tenants with renting horror stories.
“With cold weather it’s hard, an old building where when the winds are blowing, I can hear the blinds rattle.”
She joined the Duluth Tenants at a news conference encouraging Duluthians to approve the Right to Repair ordinance on the November ballot.
“When I vote yes on question 1 today, I’m thinking of the real tangible stories of hundreds of my friends, teammates, neighbors, and fellow Duluth tenants,” said Duluth Tenants Member Molly MacGregor.
The ordinance would allow renters to fix small maintenance problems on their own if their landlords don’t respond to their request within 2 weeks. The tenants would be reimbursed up to $500.
