But the Cheboygan Chiefs football team got the job done when they desperately needed to.
In a tight battle all night, the Chiefs hung on for a 13-12 victory at Elk Rapids on Friday, Sept. 19.

Wild fourth quarter
Deadlocked in a 6-6 battle and the defense just getting a pivotal stop, the Chiefs (2-2) quickly moved their way deep into Elk Rapids territory when quarterback Nolan Schley connected with wide receiver Mason Johnson on a 30-yard gain. Junior running back Killian Miller then followed it up with a 41-yard run. A few plays later, Cheboygan took the lead with a three-yard TD run from Schley. After a made PAT, the Chiefs led 13-6 with 8:18 left.
