HORACE, N.D. — Jamestown High School head football coach Bill Nelson said if you make mistakes against Kindred, they will make you pay.
He was right.
Nelson and the Jamestown Blue Jays dropped 49-6 to the Vikings on Friday evening. The Jays closed out their non-conference schedule with a record of 1-3.
Jamestown trailed the Vikings early, but a few minutes into the second quarter, Nelson's crew caught a break.
Mason Gibson recovered a fumble by the Vikings to set the Jays up at Kindred's 40 yard line. The Blue Jays fought their way through the Vikings' defense to get down to the 30. Karson Schmidt's pass was ruled incomplete bringing up second down. On the next snap, Schmidt completed a four-yard pass to Cephy Sayler to bring up 3rd and 6, which turned to 4th and 6.
