Laredo Police Chief Mike Rodriguez referred to the recent drug-related incidents in the city as concerning. He reported that 22 smoke shops in Laredo have been inspected by the Laredo Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as part of a new law that took effect on September 1.

Senate Bill 2024 prohibits vape shops in Texas from selling vaping products that contain THC. According to Rodriguez, “This law makes it illegal to put products with candy flavors, cartoon packaging or designs that target minors.”
