LAFAYETTE, Ala. (WTVM) - A possible shooting was reported in East Alabama Friday night during halftime of the Lanett at Lafayette High School football game.

It happened across the street from the stadium on Alabama Avenue East. Referees said they heard gunshots and a car screeching around halftime. Other witnesses reported seeing a vehicle speeding away from the scene.

At this time, it is unclear if anyone was shot or hurt. WTVM has reached out to Lafayette police and is waiting for more details.

Referees said the football game was stopped and canceled following the incident.
