ANDERSONVILLE, Ga. (WTVM) - The National Prisoner of War Museum held a special event today honoring the 106th Infantry Division on National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Day.
September 19 is recognized nationwide as Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Day. Loved ones of the 106th Infantry Division gathered to remember those who were captured during World War II.
“I was raised in the church and I still had my faith that he would save me and bring me back home, which he did,” said Pvt. John G. Beville, a World War II veteran.
Private Beville, now 101 years old, was one of the 6,500 men who made up the 106th Infantry Division. These men were part of the Army Specialized Training Program, which sent soldiers to college for engineering, logistics and medical training. That program
