GRAND FORKS — Anyone who stuck out a rainy first half between Grand Forks Red River and Williston at Cushman Field on Friday was treated with a rare football occurrence, and perhaps some Roughrider football history.
Matthew Dosch had just bobbed and weaved his way through the Coyote defense for a 34-yard touchdown run to give Red River a 35-0 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Williston’s Leo Kendor collected the ball at his own 16-yard line.
Through three broken tackles, Kendor broke free to the end zone for an 84-yard score and the first points of the game for the visiting side. It was an exciting play that even received a couple of impressed reactions from the home stands.
