MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) —The Greenville Police Department says despite claims, they do not believe a student brought a gun to a middle school dance on Friday.

In a social media post , authorities say there have been several reports of a student bringing a gun to Friday evening’s dance at Muhlenberg County Middle School.

Authorities say administrators and a school resource officer were present at the school throughout the dance and had additional officers assisting with traffic control. Students also had to pass through a metal detector before entering the building.

According to police, there is no credible information indicating a student had a gun at any time at the dance.
