Detroit — The Tigers are collapsing in slow motion, bats silent, pitchers rocked, fans unsure whether to jeer, cheer, gasp or boo. This is not the look or sound of a first-place team with eight games remaining. It’s the look of a team frozen in place, as if petrified to move.
The next several moves, over the next several games, will determine if they’re the scrappy team that spent almost the entire season in first, or the unfortunate authors of a horrific, historic free-fall.
