TOWN AND COUNTRY — The CBC football team got it going early in Friday night's Metro Catholic Conference showdown with visiting De Smet.
But then the Spartans closed out the first half with 13 consecutive points.
CBC coach Scott Pingel had some choice words for his squad at the break.
"We came in with a good game plan and we took control,'' CBC quarterback Nick McClellan said. "But then, for some reason, we let up. Coach got on us there at halftime, making sure we stayed focused, and I definitely took his words to heart. We came out after the break and did what we needed to do."
The Cadets went on to a 56-13 win, upping their record to 4-0 overall and to 2-0 atop the MCC. De Smet, which won the Missouri Class 6 title last year, is 1-3 and 0-2.
