BELLFLOWER – The Bellflower football team suffered its first defeat Friday, falling to Rio Hondo Prep 36-7 at Ron Yary Stadium.
Bellflower saw two vital players leave the game early. Senior Amir Purry was ejected and senior Amir Neal left with an injury.
“We’re a thin team so we couldn’t lose those guys,” Buccaneers coach Keith Miller. “We had to play some JV guys and we just couldn’t measure up for the rest of the game.”
Rio Hondo Prep’s Darion Richardson completed 9 of 15 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown.
Zahir Brown-Jones led the Rio Hondo Prep rushing attack with 44 yards on seven carries. Jordan Hunter led the Bellflower receiving corps with four catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.
