Former Alabama senator Doug Jones knows how every vote counts and why they matter.

“What’s crazy is that people tend to vote more in presidential elections, less in state elections and even less in municipal elections,” Doug Jones said Thursday. “And those municipal elections are where the rubber hits the road. That’s where you can really have a voice.”

Jones spent the day in Mobile, contributing to voter-motivation efforts for Mobile mayoral candidate Barbara Drummond. Jones said he’d been meeting with community leaders “to get out the vote and to get others to get out the vote.”
