LYNCHBURG — Football players like Liberty cornerback Damond Harmon are just one of the many examples why games like Saturday’s between the Flames and in-state rival James Madison are so desired.

A Richmond native who left the commonwealth for college before a winding path returned him to Lynchburg, Harmon admitted this week: “I was about to go to JMU before I came here. So I know a little bit about JMU and a little bit about what they’re about within their program.”

Despite 3,948 days separating the last matchup between the two schools, familiarity abounds for Liberty and James Madison ahead of their clash on Saturday. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
