A secondhand goods center at the Eldorado Convenience Center has been closed since late August as Santa Fe County investigates a complaint about alleged "health hazards" due to employees' exposure to rat feces.

A county spokesperson did not specify the alleged health hazards, but the complaint, which includes photographs of brown stains on the floors of various rooms of the facility, alleges, "Rodent feces is very abundant in the [ReUse Center area] and is starting to be carried into office area as well."

A spokesperson for the New Mexico Environment Department provided a document from the Occupational Health and Safety Bureau outlining the specifics of the complaint.
