There was a split between the candidates for the Santa Fe school board's District 3 seat on Friday night: Some spoke from years of education experience, others from years of concern.
“I’ve been committed to education and Santa Fe Public Schools for 19 years,” Jack Lain said at Friday's candidate forum at the Santa Fe Country Club and featuring questions from the League of Women Voters.
He noted his various roles teaching and leading district schools, even returning after he retired.
“They couldn’t keep me out of the schools,” he said to laughs.
“I’m not a polished politician,” said Brenda Colburn, a real estate agent who entered the race at a last minute out of a desire to fix what she sees as a lack of opportunity for local students. “Just a citizen with questions."
