RANCHO CUCAMONGA — For a brief moment on Friday night, it looked like Rancho Cucamonga had a chance against powerhouse Centennial.
The game was tied late in the first quarter and the Cougars intercepted a pass they returned to the Centennial 5.
The Centennial defense locked down Rancho Cucamonga from there, limiting the Cougars to three first downs on their next eight possessions en route to a 42-14 nonleague win.
It was the 299th career victory for Centennial coach Matt Logan. The Huskies (4-1) will have a chance to give Logan win No. 300 in their next game, the Big West-Upper League opener against visiting Roosevelt on Oct. 2.
