Union head coach Steve Pyne told his players it’s better to win ugly than to lose pretty.
But after two gut-wrenching losses to open the season, the Titans were ready for a win anyway they could get it.
So Friday night’s 48-14 rout of Mountain View was just what the Titans needed.
“It feels amazing,” senior quarterback Blake McDonald said. “I don’t even know how to put it into words. We worked so hard in the offseason. We deserved it. We just put it together tonight.”
McDonald and junior quarterback Armani Tonga combined for 321 yards passing and four touchdowns, while the defense held Mountain View to just 67 yards in the first half.
McDonald threw a touchdown pass to Kayson Specht and had a 10-yard touchdown run of his own to put Union up 14-0 after one quarter.
