Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud's berating of a Christian minister who objected to street signs named after an Arab American leader is being called out by his electoral opponent.

Nagi Almudhegi, 50, who is challenging Hammoud, 35, for mayor, said in a statement on Sept. 17 that Hammoud's lashing out at a resident who spoke at a city council meeting was an unjustified "tirade" unbecoming of his role.
