MADISON – There was an intriguing development for the Wisconsin football team during the fourth quarter of its loss to Alabama last week .

Jayden Ballard caught a 41-yard touchdown pass with 5 ½ minutes left. The play made the final score, 38-14, a little more respectable. It also planted a seed of thought.

Is the 6-foot-2, 205-pound fifth-year receiver ready to give the Badgers another big-play threat in the passing game?

Senior Vinny Anthony proved himself in that regard last season. Redshirt sophomore Trech Kekahuna shows potential in that regard as a slot receiver.

Ballard is the wildcard. He spent the past four seasons buried on a depth chart at Ohio State where the receivers room was filed with future NFL draft picks.
