Two fires were caused by household appliances running while unattended, according to North Bay Fire and Emergency Services.
North Bay Fire is reminding residents about the dangers of leaving household appliances operating while nobody is inside the home.
“Both incidents involved oscillating fans that had been left on when the occupants were not home. In each case, the fan malfunctioned and caused a fire, resulting in property damage and significant risk to the building’s residents,” according to a media release issued by the North Bay Fire Department.
“We want to remind the public never leave oscillating fans, space heaters, or similar devices operating when you are not at home or when you are sleeping, inspect appliances regularly for frayed cords, dust buildup, or signs of overheating
