Armed officers stormed an east Manchester estate after a man was shot in the foot overnight .

Police were called out to Highgate Crescent, in Gorton , at around 12.15am this morning (September 20).

Greater Manchester Police says a 22-year-old man was shot by an unknown offender who fled the scene.

Luckily, the victim escaped with just a graze. A cordon is now in place near Highgate Crescent as the investigation steps up.

An area of Wayland Road has been taped off, along with a wooded area close-by.
