There were plenty of emotions swirling for Lukas Babbitt when he stepped on the turf at Springfield's Silke Field for the final time as a high school football player.

Babbitt, an all-state senior linebacker for Churchill, began his career at Springfield and spent two seasons with the Millers before transferring ahead of his junior season.

Up against a Millers squad stacked with friends and former teammates, it was a triumphant return home for the Lancers' do-it-all star.

Babbitt ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries and returned an interception for a touchdown Sept. 19 to lead Class 5A No. 9 Churchill (3-1, 2-0 Midwestern League) to a 48-12 road win over Springfield (0-3, 0-1).
