BALTIMORE — Well into a long at-bat against a tough left-hander in the first inning Friday night, Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge laid off a 3-2 fastball from Trevor Rogers that was above the knees but a few inches inside.

Thinking he’s worked a walk, Judge made a motion to head to first base when he stopped.

Plate umpire Adrian Johnson rung him up.

Bad call.

For years, Judge has dealt with stuff like that as much or more than any hitter because he has one of the biggest strike zones.

He’s 6-foot-7.

Judge is best known for being the greatest home run hitter of his era, but the two-time American League Most Valuable Player also developed into one of the best hitters in the majors, which is unprecedented for anyone his size.
