As the ball left Jesus Gomez’s foot and flew into the night air, the game clock ran out. Over 40,000 fans and 200 players watched in anticipation. But not Gomez. He knew his field goal attempt was good.

“I don’t think I watched it go through the uprights because I knew it was in,” Gomez said, “so I just turned and started celebrating.”

Gomez was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts on the night, helping out an inconsistent Arizona State offense as the Sun Devils grabbed a 27-24 win over Baylor to open Big 12 Conference play.
