After Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder last week, it seems the only thing the American left and right can agree on is that they hate each other. According to one Democratic Senator speaking to media after Kirk’s slaying, political violence is now “baked in” to American culture. There are few, it seems, interested in changing the recipe.
Moments after Kirk’s death was announced, grief was matched only by glee. No matter how odious one considered Kirk’s opinions (and many of them, in my view, were beyond odious), it has been disturbing, though not entirely surprising, to witness so many alleged defenders of democracy openly celebrate a public assassination.
