A Sudbury man charged with impaired driving at a police spot check in Chelmsford in April has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

“Sorry for it happening,” Lee Burrow, 53, told Ontario Court Justice John Payne. ” It was a silly mistake and it won’t happen again.”

Justice Payne, accepting a joint sentencing submission from the Crown and defence lawyer Michael Venturi, issued a $1,000 fine and a 15-month probation order. The order includes the conditions that Burrow complete the province’s Back on Track program and also not drive with any alcohol in his system.
