Fat Bear Week is about to kick off for the 11th year of competition.

After starting as a one-day tournament in 2014, Fat Bear Week is returning to let viewers choose which bear will reign supreme as they bulk up in Alaska’s Katmai National Park before hibernation.

Around the world, millions of viewers have tuned into past livestreams to watch as the bears hunt for salmon at Katmai National Park's Brooks Falls in preparation for winter. Well that, and to place their votes for the best candidate for the fattest bear of the week.

Last year, over 1 million votes were cast from more than 100 countries to participate in the annual competition. This year is already shaping up to be a good one for the competing bears, with a surplus of salmon for them to chow down on.
