Boston firefighters responded to a large fire early Sunday on Centre Street and then, about 20 minutes later to another fire about two miles away on Baird Street.

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire in a double three-decker at 378 Centre St. around 4:45 a.m., spread to a neighboring three decker and sent one resident and one firefighter to the hospital. Rear porches at 378 Centre were destroyed.

A total of 30 residents and multiple cats were displaced, the department says, adding damage was estimated at $600,000.

Shortly after 5 a.m., other fire crews responded to 39 Baird St. for what turned into a two-alarm fire.

The department reports 11 people were displaced, but that there were no injuries.
