A recount of select votes from the Sept. 9 preliminary election this week confirmed that Mayor Wu will appear unopposed on the November ballot and two men— Said Ahmed and Miniard Culpepper— will compete for the open District 7 council seat based in Roxbury and parts of Dorchester.

Mayoral candidate Domingos DaRosa, who won 2,409 votes in the preliminary, secured signatures last week to recount ballots in Wards 4, 8, 9, 13, and 18 as he sought unsuccessfully to replace Josh Kraft, the second- place finisher in the Sept. 9 vote who withdrew his name from the ballot after suspending his challenge of Wu on Sept. 11.

DaRosa failed to make up the nearly 600 votes he needed to secure the 3,000 votes necessary to appear on the Nov. 4 ballot for mayor.
