The Higley Unified School District Governing Board has adopted revisions to its sex offender notification policy, aligning district procedures with Arizona law while rejecting a proposal that would have expanded parent notification requirements.

The updated policy , approved this week, specifies that the district will disseminate information received from law enforcement about registered sex offenders. If the district receives court notifications under A.R.S. 8-350 , information will be available to teachers, parents, guardians or custodians upon request.

District staff with a legitimate safety or educational interest may also be informed.

The policy requires procedures to ensure student safety while prohibiting harassment or vigilantism.
