KATY, Texas — A person who a baseball organization identified as a coach was shot in the shoulder in the Katy area by recreational gunfire during a game Sunday morning, officials said.

TheRac Baseball Katy said the coach was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he receives treatment for his injuries," TheRac said in a social media post.

The Waller County Sheriff's Office said a 27-year-old man was flown to a hospital and is stable.

Authorities reportedly took the shooter or shooters into custody.

TheRac said it is pausing any future practices or games at its facility "until law enforcement and our internal investigation has been completed to ensure the safety of all that visit the facility."
