From creator Brad Ingelsby, Task is HBO’s latest crime drama that critics and audiences are already raving about. Set in the suburbs of Philadelphia, the series stars Mark Ruffalo as an FBI agent at the helm of a task force charged with ending a string of violent robberies. The man responsible for said crimes, Robbie (Tom Pelphrey), is an unassuming family man doing what he can to provide for his children. Although Robbie isn’t inherently a bad person — just someone who’s done some wrong — he and Ruffalo’s characters are more similar than they’d probably admit. Steeped in a grey-scale world of generational trauma, the series is reminiscent of another Ingelsby show viewers should check out.
