BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - September is recognized as National Recovery Month, and the return of one special 5-K saw many helping to support substance recovery.
The 10th annual Race for Recovery 5K began at the Bangor Waterfront Sunday morning, spanning down Main St. and along the Waterfront Park
This event is the biggest yearly fundraiser for Wellspring, which has helped provide treatment for substance use disorder for over 40 years in the Bangor community.
Organizers say the event helps to bring the community together to help raise money, as well as reduce societal stigma’s surrounding substance recovery.
