HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Feeding Florida has launched a new initiative, the Farmers Feeding Florida Program, that will connect farmers and producers with families facing food insecurity.

What You Need To Know • The Farmers Feeding Florida Program is estimated to have already saved more than 170,000 gallons of milk • Dale McClellan said there have been times in the past he's had to pour milk down the drain • As of mid-August, Feeding Florida distributed milk to 41 counties and 270 agencies

The program is set to rescue all types of food that would otherwise go to waste.

Feeding Florida CEO Robin Safley said the part centered around rescuing milk has been in effect.
