Greater Paducah Economic Development announced Friday that a 60-megawatt solar facility will be built in McCracken County, to be in operation by 2028.
The location of 615 acres of privately-owned land for the site was not disclosed.
The press release said the completed site could generate enough energy to power the equivalent of approximately 10,000 homes annually.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, and create 150 jobs during construction.
The project, named McCracken Solar, is being developed by AES, described on their website as a U.S.-based Fortune 500 energy company. They generate and distribute electricity in 15 countries through 450 renewable energy projects.
