The Greenville County Council approved two development-related issues at a meeting on Sept. 16 — one that protects Paris Mountain and the other pauses cluster housing.

Ten members of the 12 person council voted unanimously to approve the high profile agenda items. Council members Kelly Long and Dan Tripp were absent.

Both issues are related to Greenville County's rapid population growth and concern about overdevelopment. A county budget document from fiscal year 2024-25 shows that growth rates have averaged 1.44% every year since 2021 with the population expected to exceed 575,000 by 2026.
