BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - Monday marks the official start of fall, and families across the region are getting into the autumn spirit. Layman Family Farms , one of Bedford County’s most popular fall attractions, opened its pumpkin patch this weekend.

The farm has been a seasonal staple for more than 20 years, drawing families year after year to make memories among the pumpkins.

“The fall season is funny because it’s the only time that I really get thanked for farming, get to see children smile, and see the end result of our product,” said Eric Layman, owner of Layman Family Farms.

For longtime visitors, a trip to the pumpkin patch is about more than just pumpkins ... it’s about tradition.
