NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio — A fire at the Westbury Apartments prompted major road closures Sunday afternoon as emergency crews responded to the scene, police said.

In a Facebook post published just before 2:30 p.m., the North Olmsted Police Department announced that the eastbound lanes of Brookpark Road had been shut down at Great Northern Boulevard near the apartment complex at 25151 Brookpark Road.

Great Northern Boulevard was also closed at Country Club Boulevard to allow fire crews access to the scene, according to reports .

“We’ve got an active fire at the Westbury apartments at Brookpark and Great Northern. Brookpark eastbound is shut down,” police wrote. “Please please please avoid this area so that we can get emergency vehicles in and out.”
