Itanagar, Sep 21: The stalemate between the Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITWs) and the State authorities shows no sign of resolution, with none of the 145 ITWs resuming duty since their temporary suspension of strike on Tuesday, ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Itanagar.

The ITWs had launched an indefinite sit-in dharna on September 15 at the IG Park Tennis Court, pressing for their single-point demand—immediate absorption of 145 ITWs into Arunachal Pradesh Home Guard posts—following the government’s recent sanction for the creation of 200 temporary home guard posts.

Earlier this month, the ITWs submitted a fresh appeal to the DGP, reiterating their plea for one-time absorption of 150 wardens (whose current strength stands at 145) into the Home Guards.
