Clifford is a 15-week-old puppy with a rare, but temporary, medical condition called Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy or HOD. Much like growing pains in children, it can happen in fast-growing, larger breed dogs leading to pain, swelling and and at times, the inability to walk. But as Tess van Straaten shows us in Pet CHEK, it can be managed with medication and once dogs are around 20-months-old the condition goes away without any lasting damage.

If you’re interested in Clifford or other animals from the Victoria Humane Society, you can find out more and submit an adoption application on the VHS website.
