GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids got a taste of NHL energy on Saturday as the Detroit Red Wings brought their Red & White game to the Van Andel Arena.

For many in the crowd, the draw was simple: see Red Wings players on West Michigan ice and soak up the atmosphere.

Tony Schirripa and Maddy Peterson, both longtime fans, said the game was filled with excitement.

“Oh, it’s great. You know, seeing everybody that’s in the system, not just for the Red Wings, but with the Griffins, everybody getting a chance to play together, mix and match lines. It’s really fun to see everybody play together,” Schirripa said.

“Yeah, it’s so amazing to see all of the players here together. I’ve never seen so many Red Wings players at the same time," Peterson added.
