A single professional woman bought a single-fronted Victorian terrace in Fitzroy North under the hammer on Saturday for $1,605,000, $155,000 over its $1.45 million reserve.

The two-bedroom home at 22 Woodside Street had a price guide of $1.4 million to $1.45 million.

Two active bidders participated in the auction, with two other interested parties in attendance but not making any bids.

“They just didn’t get a chance to bid,” said selling agent Rick Daniel from Nelson Alexander, Fitzroy.

The successful bidder, who was on-site for the auction, was a single professional represented by a buyer’s advocate, while the underbidder was a young couple who had just relocated back home from overseas.

“The buyer was over the moon, she had been looking for a few months now,” Daniel said.
