STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police arrested a man after a kidnapping and assault incident in Newington followed by a barricade incident in Stamford on Sunday afternoon.

At about 12:10 p.m., Newington police were dispatched to a home for reports of a domestic dispute.

Officers say 36-year-old John Lacen-Romero assaulted a woman and took two children from the home, put them in a car and drove off.

At about 1:45 p.m., Stamford police located the suspected vehicle at North State Street and Canal Street. Officers say this car was wanted for a kidnapping investigation in Newington.

Police say the suspect engaged in a pursuit and fled onto I-95 Southbound. After crashing into many vehicles, the suspect car finally came to a stop off Exit 7after hitting a car and become disabled in the roadway.
