BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Many Big Country residents were left looking up in awe Sunday night after streaks of light shot across the sky.

On September 21, viewers from Abilene, Roscoe, and Cross Plains shared videos with KTAB/KRBC, capturing the mysterious glowing trails overhead.

While there isn’t a confirmed explanation yet, meteorologists believe the lights were likely space debris burning up as it entered Earth’s atmosphere.

Some speculated it could be related to the Starlink satellite launch that took place earlier that day, but meteorologists note Starlink typically appears as a straight line without a glowing tail, unlike the fiery display seen across the Big Country.
