PALMYRA, New York (ABC4) — Elder David A. Bednar of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints led a rededication ceremony for the refurbished Hill Cumorah site in New York state on Sunday.

The ceremony was broadcast globally, with around 500 people in attendance.

"I dedicate this site as a place of holy remembrance, a place of heavenly inspiration, a place of heartfelt appreciation, a place of seeking and learning, and a place of humble reverance," Elder Bednar said during his dedicatory prayer.

Located in upstate New York, the Hill Cumorah site was purchased by the Church in 1928. Starting in 1935, the hill was the site of a yearly pageant that celebrated the Book of Mormon along with the Church's history, and attracted tens of thousands of vistors until its final year in 2019.
