THOUSANDS of residents and businesses in and around Lorne are without power following an electrical outage earlier today (Monday, September 22).

A Powercor spokesperson said the outage began at 12.15pm and 2,328 customers were off supply at the peak of the outage, but power had since been restored to some of those.

The spokesperson said Powercor had investigated the cause of the fault, which appeared to be a fuse on the high voltage network.

“We expect the remaining customers will be back online by 5pm

Powercor’s live outage map shows 2,217 customers affected in a roughly triangular area near Lorne and Benwerrin.
