The injury bug may have already gotten its first bite on the Ottawa Senators.
Defenceman Tyler Kleven left Sunday’s pre-season game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third period and did not return.
Kleven’s last shift lasted just 16 seconds with just over 14 minutes remaining in the matchup.
On a prior shift, the 23-year-old took an awkward crash into the endboards and was a bit slow to get up.
Head coach Travis Green told reporters after the 4-3 loss for the Senators that he didn’t have an update yet on Kleven’s injury, per Sportsnet’s Alex Adams.
Kleven played 79 games for Ottawa last season, recording four goals and six assists.
