Labor has revealed its position on the Tasmanian Planning Commission's final assessment on the proposed Macquarie Point stadium, less than a week after the commission recommended against the project .

The report's recommendation was discussed by Labor's caucus on Monday, ahead of the resumption of Parliament.

After the meeting, Labor leader Josh Willie said the parliamentary party members believed the challenges identified in the report could to be addressed.

"Our view is that the stadium is a necessary requirement to deliver the Tasmania Football Club and AFL and AFLW teams, and ensure that they are successful both on and off the field," he said.

"In our deliberations today, we considered the progress of the Tasmania Football Club and the cost to Tasmania with (it) not proceeding.
