A couple dozen people lined the overpass over State Route 24 in Lafayette Sunday evening to remember conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on September 10.
Attendees said they were rocked by the news of his assassination.
"I had been a wreck, I couldn’t think of anything else," said Jeremy Gaylor of Concord.
The demonstration was organized by a group called Patriots of Contra Costa. Many in attendance said they had participated in demonstrations on this overpass before.
"We want everybody safe, free, secure, respected, loved, even if you disagree," said Lisa Disbrow of Moraga.
