Last night, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) through its chairperson, Justice Annabel Mtalimanja announced results from four additional districts and councils: Chitipa, Rumphi, Mulanje, and Mzuzu City.
This brings the total number of councils with declared results to 13 out of 36, as the commission continues to release official outcomes from the 2025 general elections.
Chitipa District Council had a total of 86,980 registered voters, a total of 68,131 voters turned up for voting representing 78.3 percent. There were 1,173 void votes. This represents 1.7 percent. There were 66,958 total valid votes in the district distributed as follows: 1. Dr. Joyce Hilda BANDA of the People’s Party (PP), 4,743 votes 2. Thokozani BANDA Manyika INDEPENDENT; 535 votes 3.
